The movie Fifty Shades of Grey is releasing this weekend…Let me start by saying, I have not seen it and I will not see it. But, what a fitting title for a movie that reflects so much about society today. What a prophetic title. Today society lives as if there is no “black & white”. No absolutes. No Truth. Everything is a “gray” area. Truth is considered subjective. Everything is relative. If you don’t live in a way that walks the “gray area” you are considered intolerant, un-enlightened, un-loving, or a hater. Compromise is the new social order. The path to acceptance. The way of unity. This new unity doesn’t say you have to believe the same thing, as a matter of fact, it’s just the opposite. In this new unity, in order to be part, you have to accept everything. Gray is open mindedness. Gray is self determination. Gray is self expression. Gray is called freedom…
What deception this is. What gray really is, is a shadow land. Where there is no bright light of truth. No absolute standards. No conviction. Do not judge in shadow land. Do not speak up. Do not stick out…The supreme quality of the citizens of shadow land is fitting in. At any cost. Accepting anything, in the name everything, for the sake of inclusion…
What a prophetic title this movie has…Fifty Shades of Grey. But, in society today there are many more than 50 shades of gray…More than 50 shades of deception. More than 50 shades of lies. More than 50 shades of the abuse of power. More than 50 shades of politicians. More than 50 shades of injustice. More than 50 shades of oppression. More than 50 shades of a republic. More than 50 shades of classism. More than 50 shades of racism. More than 50 shades of greed. More than 50 shades of selfishness. More than 50 shades of a marriage. More than 50 shades of a modern family…and yes, in this movie, more than 50 ways of aberrant sexual behavior. But, in shadow land, in the land of Gray, this movie will break box office records. Even while it promotes Sadomasochism and promotes the compromise and acceptance of a young woman into torture and abuse. In the name of….what? Sexual experiences? Do not say pleasure. Pain and abuse is not pleasurable. And do not say love, because this movie is not about love. It is not romantic. It is twisted and it is sick and it tries to hide this in the gray.
Many might say, I am wrong…It is just a movie…it is artistic…It is none of my business…Perhaps I have offended some of you…Sorry…I don’t like Gray…
